The Riddle of the Racer: Russ, why does my back hurt all the time and what can I do for it?

The Great Sphinx of Giza, known commonly as "The Sphinx" is found in Egypt. It measures 240 feet long, 20 feet high and 60 feet wide. It has stood since around 2560 BC. The guy clearly has super strong core muscles at this point.

The Sphinx push up hasn't been around for as long as the monument itself, but I believe it will definitely stand the test of time.
Hi Racers,
Right to the point, I want you to add this to your Racers Workout or to your own workout right now. We need to do more total body or "core" exercises . The Sphinx Pushup is one of my favorites. It really works those lower back muscles. I want you to do max repetitions for and try to add 1 each time you do it. I don't want you to time yourself because the slow hold at the top of the movement is key. Do 2 or 3 sets on your cardio days in Racers Workout after your run/walk when you are warmed up. That's how beneficial I believe it will be to strengthening the muscles in your mid-section and lower back. This increased strength will help protect your back from strain or worse and improve your posture beyhind the wheel. Core strength is something that is emphasized in Racers Workout, but I am always on the look out for ways to improve those muscles.

The core muscles illustrated (apparently by a couple of the flesh eating zombie extras from Night of the Living Dead?)
Notice in our demonstration the constant tensing of the core muscles on the upward and downward movement. I want you to make sure you hold the movement at the top for a three count. So don't move as quickly as our demonstration guy. The hold is super important. Also, try to move your hands back further under your body as you improve doing the exercise. The closer the hands are into your body, the harder the exercise.
