Will Smith and his son tell the remarkable story of Chris Gardner in Pursuit of Happyness

Smith with the real Chris Gardner. Chris pursued a life changing internship with an elite stock brockerage house in California in the early 80s. I could go on and on, but there isn't room under this picture. Racers: You gotta see this movie.

Hey everyone.

Normally I like to spend Monday recapping the weekend's races and doing some of that name dropping of my Racer clients that I am sure many of you are worn out on.  (I still might, so don't act too relieved.)   For those of you who haven't done a blog like this before, generally you try to plan out interesting, helpful topics to share a few days in advance. Then if you get a hot news item you want to share that just happened, you fit it in and move the other ideas back a day or two.

However, sometimes circumstances alter the general pattern of how you do things and plans simply must change. This week was going to be about a couple more videos I did demonstrating weightlifting exercises for racers.  We will get to those and I am thinking you will like them. Two things changed my mind. First, I had a mishap last week that harmed my ability to do my usual work online. Trying to grow my relationships with you all is something that requires attention and focus on bringing you the best knowledge I can. My computer crashed. Not in the techy sense. It literally crashed physically.  It has happened before, but this one was fatal.

No. Not this bad, but as you computer owners know, it often don't take much.

Well it set me back mentally. Way more than it should have frankly.

The other has to do with a lady with an inspiring story who has been a loyal follower of my teachings since the beginning a few weeks ago when Racers Workout launched and I really started to get online and learn the ropes of connecting everyone.  Her name is Cathy and she has had some serious health set backs through the years. I would categorize them as very definitely life threatening. I haven't met her in person, but she follows my posts on the Facebook Pages and writes with questions and updates about how she is doing. Her dedication and positive attitude towards improving her situation transcend racing and go to the larger lesson of a champion's attitude.   She is not a Racer. But it doesn't matter. She has it and she gets it.

Some people have it and however they got it, "it" is essential for success in anything. I like to call it the "want to".  When I look at my best Racers and their mentality there is a common thread. From the elites like Kasey Kahne to the up and comers who have accepted the Racers Workout promise to bring you full throttle elite Racer endurance. (As we like to say: "Make Your Last Lap as Strong as Your First.")

That common thread is an almost childlike openness towards changing and improving. It is also a refreshing lack of cynicism. It it is also an understanding that obstacles are opportunities and are part of the ride of life for people out there pursuing any goal.

The Great Commander Hannibal leading his Carthaginian warriors in an unheard of traversing of the Italian Alps. Bringing elephants and an elephant sized will to win.

I want to set aside space this week to share some of my exchanges with Cathy. It isn't about big changes Racers. It is about small little shifts in a couple basic mindsets. I see it in Kasey Kahne, just like I see it in the most prosperous in all walks of life. Racers Workout is a tool of massive benefit to some, and a dust collector for others.

What does this have to do with me and my sour attitude about a busted computer?  Everything. So stay tuned my Racer friends.
