Hey everyone,

Check out this video of my guy Kasey Kahne working on his vision for better racing and more wins. This is indicative of the larger trend in Racing all over the world. The most serious and dedicated are creating an environment where only passionate Racers are able to compete and win. The winners are seeking out any edge they can. The losers are the ones who get lax.

There are some resources out there on the internet but they decidedly lack an auto racing focus. One team that his doing some interesting work including providing sample eye drills is Sportseyesite.  Dynavision or D2 as it is also known is the group that Kasey is working with on the video.  I will be in contact with them to see if they can give us all some samples of the sorts of things they do and some suggestions for  how we can incorporate their exercises into our routines. I have no doubt that better stronger vision will make us better racers.  I also have no doubt that we can actively improve our visions without glasses or contacts.

A couple thoughts I have on what you can do to promote eye strength for racing.

1. Get regular eye tests. Most racers don't. If you are short on cash, utilize resources at eye centers in your local chain supermarket. Usually isn't that much. You need to understand if you actually have good or bad vision. We often don't know as surprising as it sounds.

2. Limit your web surfing time. If you are an hour a day or more, try to cut that in half immediately. It will keep your eeyes from straining or tiring unnecessarily.

3.  Get proper rest.  We talked about this previously, but establishing a consistent sleeping time each night and sticking to it will have you fully awake and your eyes the same. We've all felt that tired eye feeling after getting too little sleep. It is not good for the faster than fast pace of competitive racing.

Don't be so surprised. Yes we can make our eyes stronger and better.

There's more to come on this Racers.  I am getting up to speed but as I learn more, you'll get it right to your inbox. Auto Racing Fitness is always changing and getting more detailed. We are about keeping up with the times.
