The heart of true Champions were seen first hand all over the South this spring. The sport of auto racing has a deep connection with the South. Don't get me wrong it is popular everywhere, but until I moved from Minnesota to live in Texas, I really didn't realize how tightly intertwined the sport at all levels is with the people. The tragic weather events this spring that have devastated places such as Joplin, Missouri have touched us all as Americans.  Racers such as NASCAR's Jamie McMurray, have felt the pain even deeper. Mark Kriegel of FoxSports shares the tragedy through the eyes of a professional and Joplin native. It really tugged at me.

Also Jamie and Daryl Waltrip doing their part.

Here are some race and sport-related links for everyone who can, to donate to the victims of these terrible events.

http://www.facebook.com/TornadoVictims Athletes for Tornado Victims being lead prominently by Blaine Gabbert, First Round Draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars and former Missouri Tiger.

http://www.supportc2c.com/ Organization working closely with NASCAR Teams for tornado relief. There is a list of specific items of need at the bottom of the page too.

We have so much to be grateful for everyone. That's the lasting lesson watching our friends in these places make the best of everything in the face of such horror.  Ultimately, that spirit is their gift to us all.
