More on Simple but Powerful Shifts to a Winning Attitude

A clutz who dropped and ran into things a lot. But he didn't succomb to stinking thinking or quit moving around.

Jack Tripper was a mega clutz, but he did a lot right too. No broken computer was going to beat him down.

Like I said, Jack did a lot that was good too.
Last time, I talked about my run in with computer accidental destruction. I didn't get too deeply into how something so small was beating me up a little too much. To let you in on my world, I answer dozens to over 100 emails on any given day from folks who are needing my input on their workouts for both racing and just for a better life. I take the people who write very seriously and their problems are mine. When the computer went down (through my own clumsiness), I took one of my cardinal rules and trounced it too.
"Within every problem lies opportunity"
I wasn't looking for solutions. I was looking to gripe and fret. But my stinking thinking didn't last long at all (but way longer than it should have) I needed an attitude adjustment (or reminder) and it came in the form of one of my favorite pen pals out there. Her name is Cathy and I want to share a couple excerpts with you from our correspondence. Cathy is taking on more serious challenges then a broken computer and is doing it with the mental approach that is no different than the elite champion racers I train. Because of this, she'll gain victory in whatever she chooses to compete in. In her case, improving her health after serious heart problems.
It is her mental approach to challenges that ensure her success and prosperity. As you read, try to feel the words and imagine she is talking to you in person. Notice the positive can do attitude, notice the willingness to embrace new things as a child would, and notice the lack of cynicism (sadly a highly poisonous mindset common in our over stimulated culture). Racers, if you can make these habits of thinking part of your regular mental make up, I will guarantee you that any goal is within your reach if you add in the intelligent action of effort. If you refuse to learn what mental habits make Cathy a champion in life, I don't like your odds.
I also will say that if you refuse to learn those mental habits, I can't in good conscious sell you Racers Workout. These are little things that mean so much.
Ok today is day 4 in my walking and I actually did that yesterday with the speeding up and walking normal. Now my shins hurt me so bad but I am determined to get back in shape. I never eat dinner after 7:00 and I do drink a lot of water. I do have a Bo Flex machine, an air walker and a treadmill (prefer to walk outside) so there is no excuse for me. I lost my job and the pounds started packing on quick. Then after my heart attack (May 2010) I was scared to do anything because when I had the heart attack I had cut two acres of grass, moved a whole room of furniture and was trimming bushes when it happened. I was scared to do anything as I was afraid it would cause another one. Well, my cardiologist put my on a treadmill a week ago and made me run at a 30 degree incline for 10 minutes at 3 mph and I did fine. Any advise and help would be so appreciated. Oh by the way Kasey is my favorite driver and has been since he started in NASCAR.
I have set a goal to lose 40 pounds. I am going to do it too!
As Background, Cathy had found me on my facebook fan page. I think I gave her some advice on there, and man did she run with it.. The above excerpt was from her first email. I'd say after that, she was doing the teaching and I was learning again about what prosperous mindset is all about. Check this out:
It is me again. I went out to eat tonight and ate a very lean 6 oz. sirloin steak, a salad that was packed with lettuce, veggies and very little dressing. I even had a 2oz. cup of frozen yogurt. No bread or starch. I did not feel deprived one bit.
When I feel hungry now (in between meals) I get 5 almonds and eat them and it takes away the hunger along with a bottle of water.
Ok the weather is horrible here in Georgia and it has been cold and raining. I didn't get to walk for the past twp days but I did try some of the couch potato exercises last night. I did 45 lunges when a commerical came on. I put my two pound weights on my feet and did leg lifts for 15 minutes sitting on the couch. Then took the same weights and did small circles holding my arms out straight for 10 minutes.
Going to rain tomorrow...again, so I am going to the garage and I am bringing in the airwalker. I am going to exericise on that tomorrow for 30 minutes.
To my bucket list: I want to get in shape and meet Kasey Kahne. Kasey has been my favorite driver since he came into NASCAR.
Notice the passionate lofty goal behind the person, driving the positive actions. Notice also the willingness to take information and put it to work without excuse. We'll conclude with a recent one:
I understand about the computer problems. I got hit with a Trojan virus last night and was on the phone with pcspyware.com until 1:00 am this morning. We got it fixed finally! It is funny that you said that about taking a break....cause yesterday I took a break from it all. I even went and got a small hamburger and a small coke from Dairy Queen. I just had too! It was pretty good. No fries just the burger and coke. My daughter had to go out of town so we didn't walk.
It gave me a good excuse to sit on my rear and watch Kasey drive the #38 in the Nationwide race. Of course I will be watching Kasey run tonight! I never miss a race. I am pumped that I am going to Talladega next week and will get to see him race live! I just wish I could meet him. Oh well...there is that bucket list again. LOL
I can't wait to see where she goes next with this. Turning a negative into a positive at every turn, how can she fail? It is all about heart brought alive by a mind geared to win at anything. (She actually makes another great substantive point about eating, that we will be talking about in future articles)

Branded retarded by teachers, Thomas Edison labored over his inventions. Noting that his 1000 plus faulty versions of the lightbulb were not failures. Rather they were merely instructions towards improvement. A heart bringing alive a mind geared to win.
It is truly all about heart. Anything we do well. That's what it comes down to. Please keep those emails coming to me at Russbohaty@gmail.com. I am learning so much. Russ
