Cliff sporting the darker Postal uni from the later episodes. Norm sporting the same suit and tie from the show's entire decade long run.

Before we get down to the serious business of supplements and how to incorporate them into your Racers Workout or whatever fitness plan, I want to alert you 80s TV fans to a great resource. A mega fan of "Cheers" has uploaded a bunch of episodes complete with the original full version theme song.  (you won't get that on the "TV Land" reruns folks.  Here is a link to a true classic if you like lots of Cliff and Norm. It's called "Jumping Jerks"

With that out of the way, let's get to the best of the mail bag. Once again, this one comes from a forum. Hoseheads forum is one of the most active forums I have seen for Racers.  It does a great job of sharing results and information about all the circuits.

Hi Russ. I wanted to get your thoughts on nutritional supplements implemented with a good workout plan. I've seen companys like Herbalife or Mannatech, which, by the way, driver Brandon Wimmer uses/endorses. I'm curious if you know about these products, if you would recommend them or any other supplements. To me, it seems it might be "easier", for lack of a better word, to do these products than going to a GNC or wherever and reading labels trying to figure out what to take for better health & energy. Your input is appreciated. 83Fan

My Answer:

I firmly believe in natural supplements. We all need them because the food we eat nowadays such as fruits, veggies, meats, etc are depleted in vitamans and minerals do to our toxic atmosphere. I have my own line of racers vitamins and I believe ours are some of the best products out there (I put my name to them, they better be) Shoot me an email for more information.

Every person should be taking at least one multi balance vitamin a day. When your working out, it is always recommended that you take some for of protien drink after to help your body recover. When you do sports activities like driving a race car, it burns energy and good natural supplements restores that energy you burn and accomplishes this restoration safely.

What it comes down to is, it is all about energy in, and energy out. You wouldn't put bad fuel in your race car clearly. But I'm talking all natural, not synthetic products. If its made by man it will not desolve and nourish your body as efficiently and well as natural products.  Be careful when assessing natural v. synthetic.  All these products that are seen so often advertised contain natural ingredients. You want to be looking for "All Natural" ingredients and you also want to be looking at the processes that were used to put the supplement into the current powder or pill form. Make sure there weren't synthetic chemicals used.

Let me add this about Mannatech for your reading and review.  http://www.raysahelian.com/glyconutrients.html

Unfortunately the supplement industry tends to be confusing and, even more unfortunately, that is by design. I invite you to email me any time with specific products and I'll give you my best opinion.

"Can I draw you a beer, Norm ?"
"No, I know what they look like. Just pour me one."

"How's a beer sound, Norm?"
"I dunno. I usually finish them before they get a word in."

"What's shaking, Norm?"
"All four cheeks and a couple of chins."

"What would you say to a nice beer, Normie?"
"Going Down?"

"What's new, Normie?"
"Terrorists, Sam. They've taken over my stomach and they're demanding beer."

"What'll it be, Normie?"
"Just the usual Coach. I'll have a froth of beer and a snorkel."

"What would you say to a beer, Normie?"
"Daddy wuvs you."

My thanks to the folks over at http://ifaq.wap.org.

No doubt, the supplement thing can be dizzying, bordering on scary. But it doesn't have to be.
