Championship Racing means looking ahead, Creating Options, and Embracing Learning

Bo Jackson was a two sport star in the late 80s. He worked hard to develop options and it paid off. Did you know that he had to overcome a lifelong stuttering problem? Without that effort, he wouldn't have been much good to Nike. Putting aside the ego and doing the work of Learning creates options
Hello again to all my friends,
I hope you are getting quality value from our 9-day long, 5-part discussion series on Mental Mastery. I find that you can never do enough work on yourself. There is always room for eager effort towards improvement. So far we have taken our cue from my favorite Success Instructor Brian Tracy and talked about the importance of recognizing our need to improve ourselves to improve our situation. We also learned to focus on where we are going and not where we started. On Friday, we got into the idea that we must embrace mistakes and so-called failure and turn them into opportunity.
Today we talk about the need to have fully devoloped options in life to prosper when Plan A doesn't come through. Dreams are great, and there is no dream to big to aspire to. They are our oxygen during the rough times. At the same time, life can throw us curveballs. We want our setbacks to be staging grounds for more prosperity and not a total destroyer of our hopes and dreams. The key is value. We must always keep in mind that in our growth process, we always have to be focusing on putting ourselves in a position to give value. Our dreams must focus on that principle. To that end, we can learn anything we must to become what we really desire. In today's world, there are no limits as far as access to information.

Michael Buffer is a great example of a guy who capitalizes on his greatest asset to achieve big time lucrative results. When you have a skill that is a rare commodity, you are very valuable. Racers and my friends in all walks of life, keep that in mind.
Rule #5: We are only as Free as our Fully Developed Options
Guys like NASCAR championship driver Kasey Kahne believe in Brian Tracy's 5th success principle for the 21st century so strongly that it makes me a better personal trainer. The principle is simply that a person is only as free as their fully developed options. If I am not working at my job to the level that is adding maximum value to the Kasey Kahne Racing team and creating the best training regimens for car racers in existence, then I am a liability. These guys have options and they have options because they have always conducted their lives that way.
The pursuit of excellence creates a person of value. A valuable person always will have options in our capitalist system. Pursuing just "good enough" is less likely to create available options for someone because there is little value in being just one of many who operate at a similar level. People who are at that level have little freedom because they have done nothing to create options for themselves.
The choice we all make in anything we do is done so with the understanding that in reality, true freedom for anyone comes with them understanding that they must create options. Relying on only one avenue to achieve something like financial freedom for instance, is a fool's path. If we learn anything from observing the world around us is that nothing is forever and things change.
These days things change at an ever more rapid pace. The person that explores the possibilities for creating options for themselves by pursuing excellence in something they are sincerely passionate about, will flouriish fully in times of change. Those who defy this law will struggle. It is about preperation and planning. It is even moreso about bringing value that is unparalleled as compared to other choices a person may have.

You want to be something and don't know where to start? Knowledge. It is all around us. Get down to that library and start in on filling in the blanks. No excuses.
Rule 6: You can learn anything you need to learn to achieve whatever it is you desire.
One thing I truly love about the world we live in is that we now have greater access to information and teaching that at any time in our history. With the internet we can proactively seek out our informational cravings from the comfort of our home in seconds. There is no valid cause that we can't learn whatever it is we need to learn to become whatever it is we desire to become.
Brian Tracy states this principle in one of his 6 laws for success in the 21st century. We have the freedom but we also have a greater responsibility and far less excuse for not acquiring the information or skills we seek to become the best in our field.
In putting together the most comprehensive dvd and online workout program for car and motorcycle racers ever, the Racers Workout, I designed the structure around this principle. Every part of the program must be uniquely useable for the exact movements and skill sets of competitive racers so I can get them the results they desire. All they have to do is start the home dvds or enter their members access website and the answers are there.
What my program does is add weight to the idea that the existence of information that is potentially very beneficial can be found anywhere in this day and age. If the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Many times the teacher will appear within seconds and a few strokes of the key board. If they have an idealized result in their minds, I believe they can find the information to create it with very few exceptions.
This access to information is wonderful security for anyone who feels like they just don't know enough to become what they want to be and are bogged down. Like reknowned business coach Dan Kennedy says, go up the street take a left, then a right and the big building on the right: the public library. Use it. It is there for all of us.

Maybe it is only in the movies that Nerds ruled the world? But I'd argue that in the real world, people who are dedicated to learning are ultimately unstoppable. You can call them nerds. But you might also be calling them "Boss"
